Direct from Holland

Meet the pride of our garden center: spring bulbs! Few plants signalize spring quite like tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths. If you are looking for highest quality and a huge variety of flower bulbs in Charlotte, please pay us a visit. Our bulbs are directly imported from flower farms in the Netherlands to bring the best of the best to your flower beds, meadows and pots. One of the Dutch reps comes to Blackhawk Hardware twice a year to show us the newest blooms and ensure that the bulbs meet our stringent quality requirements. What’s so great about working this closely with our Dutch exporter is that we are cutting out the middle man and the bulbs arrive at Blackhawk Garden Center fresh off the plane. We like to jokingly call them Flying Dutchmen – ’cause they flew on a plane. And they’re Dutch. Because that’s what good tulip buds are.

Get great bulbs without travelling to Holland! Blackhawk Hardware has got them in stock.

Countless Varieties of High Quality Flower Bulbs

This year’s shipment includes pre-bagged as well as loose bulbs. We’ve got a shelf full of daffodils, over 50 different tulip varieties, fun alliums, hyacinths, iris, lycoris, narcissus, spring snowflakes, and a few more flowering bulbs that you won’t find anywhere else. We have early bloomers and late bloomers so you can stretch your blooming season as you wish. Of course we also carry paperwhites – they’re one of our best sellers. Sooo fragrant! But new this year, for those with sensitive noses, we have a delicate fragrance variety, too.

How to Plant Tulip and Daffodil Buds

Trust us, you’re going to have a harder time picking out flower bulbs than planting them. All packages have planting instructions that include spacing and depth recommendations. Armed with that information, your bulbs and a trowel set out to where you want beautiful blooms next spring. If you’re planning to plant the flower bulbs in a meadow you may also want to grab your spade to make an X cut in the grass.

Lay the bulbs out to see your planting pattern (even “random” arrangements look better when you see where you’ve already scattered bulbs). Once happy with the lay-out begin making holes with your trowel, setting the bulb at the desired depth, and re-cover with soil. Give them a nice watering and enjoy them next year. For what it’s worth, the tip goes up, roots go down. 😉
