Sometimes you just want to eat a simple but delicious meal between all of those big holiday meals. Enter burgers from the Big Green Egg! Quickly prepared but with that drool-worthy, smoky flavor you’ve come to expect from the Big Green Egg.  Add these burgers to your meal plan for a tasty and quick family favorite that everyone will eat.

Ignite your Big Green Egg and set it up for direct heat. While the temperature climbs to 375, prepare the burger patties. Mix 2lbs of ground beef with 1 egg, 1/4 cup breadcrumbs, 1 TBS garlic powder, 1 tsp pepper and 1/2 tsp salt. Divide the beef mixture into 5 to 6 portions. Roll each part into a ball and flatten it to about 1in. Press a nice dimple in the center of all patties.

You may also want to prepare any toppings and start other sides now. We cooked one of our favorite sides, corn on the cob (also fabulous on the Big Green Egg – just start a little earlier as it needs a bit longer than the burgers). After slicing a tomato and an avocado we were ready to start grilling.

Place your burger patties on the grid of the Big Green Egg. Close the lid and grill them for 4 to 6 minutes per side until your burgers reach the desired temperature. The USDA recommends at least 160F or medium.

For cheese burgers, add a slice of your favorite cheese during the final minute of grilling. We love Havarti or Pepper Jack! Put the patties on your buns, pile up the toppings and enjoy these simple yet super tasty hamburgers from the Big Green Egg!
