Here’s a feel-good story to brighten your day:
Believe it or not, at Blackhawk Hardware we start working on those beautiful Christmas displays that you can see in our store in the winter pretty much as soon as Christmas is over. A very large portion of our Christmas decorations, including the trees, come from Kaemingk International in the Netherlands.
Every year we look for the newest trends in Christmas decor. In January, during the International Gift and Home Furnishings Market in Atlanta we visited the Kaemingk Showroom and entered their “Make a Wish” contest to win a fully decorated tree for someone special. The entry asked for the person’s name, the reason we were making the wish and who was making the wish. Of course we wanted to bring this tree home to a family in need in the greater Charlotte area!
We immediately thought of a young family in Waxhaw, NC who had lost their home in a fire just before last Christmas. Our wish was that they would hopefully win the tree and have something wonderful to look forward to for Christmas 2018.
The Blackhawk team’s wish came true! Last week we received a phone call from Kaemingk telling us that our story touched them and they chose our nominees to receive their special Christmas Tree. The theme of the tree is “Waiting For Santa To Arrive.” The decor features traditional elements and colors with a modern twist – perfect for making new traditions! We are so thrilled that Kaemingk has made the wait a little sweeter for this local family! Thank you Kaemingk!
